CAUTIOUS WELCOME FOR LOW CARBON BUILDING FUNDING PROGRAMME
Commenting on the announcement today of the funding for the Low Carbon Building programme by the Government, the Micropower Council gave a cautious welcome.
Dave Sowden, Chief Executive said, “We welcome the Government have finally clarified the funding levels for this programme which we have been calling for, for some time. Whilst the size of the funding represents a sizeable drop, it does remove the significant uncertainty the industry has experienced for the last few months. This has made it difficult for the industry to plan its activities and invest accordingly. This reinforces the need for longer targets to be set for the microgeneration industry so we don’t run into similar situation in the future”.
There are other positive measures, which are emerging which will support microgeneration. These include two Private Members Bills due for Second Reading next week and the Governments’ microgeneration strategy due to report by the end of the year.
